# Revalidate a reference

> Ask Reintersect to resolve one of your references again in this workspace.

> Reintersect apps are in developer preview. Names and limits can still change before general
> release.

Queues a new resolve of the stored reference for `kind` and `externalId` in the install's workspace.
Answers `202 Accepted`; every occurrence updates when your `resolve` answers.

Authenticate with an install token that has the `references:write` scope.

| `externalId` | `string` | Yes | The id your `resolve` returned, 1 to 200 characters. |

## Errors

| `ReintersectAppScopeMissingError` | 403 | The install lacks `references:write`. |
| `ReintersectAppReferenceKindUnknownError` | 422 | The installed version has no reference kind with this name. |

With the SDK, call `reintersect.references.revalidate({ kind, externalId })`.
