# Push reference fields

> Update the stored fields of one of your references without a resolve.

> Reintersect apps are in developer preview. Names and limits can still change before general
> release.

Updates the workspace's shared record for a reference, so every chip, link and card showing it
updates at once.

Authenticate with an install token that has the `references:write` scope.

## Body

| Field | Type | Required | Description |

| `kind` | `string` | Yes | One of your reference kinds. |
| `externalId` | `string` | Yes | The object's id. |
| `version` | `number` | Yes | A whole number that increases with every change on your side. Lower versions than the stored one are ignored; the same version is applied. |
| `fields` | `object` | Yes | Any of `title`, `summary`, `subtitle`, `icon`, `status`, `updatedAt`, `url`, `visibility` and `block`. `null` clears an optional field. `block` is a rendered `{ tree, actions }` that replaces the custom card, or `null` to remove it. |

Text fields are at most 200 characters, `summary` at most 280, and `status.label` at most 60.

## Response

| `applied` | `boolean` | `false` when Reintersect already held a newer version. |
| `version` | `number` | The version Reintersect holds now. |

## Errors

| `ReintersectAppScopeMissingError` | 403 | The install lacks `references:write`. |
| `ReintersectAppReferenceKindUnknownError` | 422 | The installed version has no reference kind with this name. |
